Joseph Aquilina is a Consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist at St.Bartholomew’s and the Royal London Hospitals and Honorary Senior Lecturer at Queen Mary University of London. He is the lead Clinician for Fetal Medicine and has developed a special interest in the application of ultrasound in the management of benign gynaecological conditions.
For the last 10 years has has run a one-stop Menstrual Disorders clinic at Barts and London Independent Hospitals where he offers one-stop comprehensive service for the management of heavy and/or painful periods, pelvic pain and polycystic overies. He is a recognised as a preceptor for training in gynaecological scanning by the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists and has been the Editor for Current Opinion in Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Women’s Health Section since 2004.
He has acquired extensive expertise in sonohysterography (fluid-assisted ultrasound scanning) which in terms of diagnostic efficacy is as effective as diagnostic hysteroscopy.
