Mr Joyti Saksena is a Consultant Orthopaedic and Trauma Surgeon at Barnet & Chase Farm Hospitals NHS Trust.
He qualified from the University of Dundee Medical School in 1995. His basic surgical training took place in the UK and Australia. His specialist orthopaedic training was in London on the prestigious Royal London Rotation.
Mr Saksena undertook 3 specialist fellowships during his training:
- Hip Reconstruction under the guidance of Miss Sarah Muirhead-Allwood
- Hip and Knee fellowship at The Norfolk and Norwich Hospital
- Soft tissue Knee reconstruction fellowship at The Royal Free Hospital and Wellington Knee Unit
Mr Saksena’s clinical interest lies in hip and knee replacement, complex primary hip replacement and revision of hip and knee replacement. He has a special interest in the management of infected joint replacements. He is also extremely keen on hip and knee preservation surgery. He regularly performs knee arthroscopy, anterior cruciate reconstruction (ACL reconstruction), soft tissue knee reconstruction, biological resurfacing, hip arthroscopy, patello-femoral and unicompartmental knee replacement surgery. In addition he treats and deals with many sports injuries such as chronic tendonitis, IT Band friction syndrome, gluteal enthesopathies. Mr Joyti Saksena’s research interest lies in patient related outcome and quality of life outcome measures. His aim is to provide enhanced recovery by improving every aspect of the patients pathway. He has published and presented his research in Europe and the USA.
Mr Saksena keeps up to date by attending national and international scientific meetings. He is a faculty member on a number of orthopaedic courses and is an author reviewer for a number of prestigious journals.
He undertakes the teaching and training of future orthopaedic surgeons and has recently been appointed the Co-Director of Medical Education at Barnet & Chase Farm Hospitals NHS Trust.
Mr Saksena lives locally and is married to an anaesthetist, he has two young boys which takes up the remainder of his time.
