Dr Gunasekera qualified from King’s College Medical School, London in 1996 and embarked on a hospital career, As a result, he attained a wealth of experience in all the general medical specialities and was a higher specialist trainee in haematology and bone marrow transplantation. He completed is GP training at Oxford and continues to work with both the NHS (in Berkshire) and the private sector here at BMI Syon Clinic where he has worked since 2011.
He continues to utilise his expertise in haematology and general medicine at specialist clinics in London while maintaining an unwavering commitment to general practice. He feels that his extensive in hospital medicine combined with his current position in both the NHS and private general practice enhances is ability to care for his patients with respect to accurate, timely diagnosis and appropriate investigation.
In particular, Dr Gunasekera enjoys the “cradle-to-grave” approach to general practice. When he is not working, Dr Gunasekera plays both cricket and hockey and is often found surfing around the world with varying degrees of success!
