Mr Louden qualified from the University of Nottingham in 1983 and became a Member and then Fellow of the RCOG in 1990 and 2000. He completed his postgraduate degree (DM) in reproductive physiology in 1989. After clinical training posts in Nottingham, Bristol and Plymouth, he spent a year in Melbourne, Australia, developing specialist skills in laparoscopic and hysteroscopic surgery in 1993, and was appointed as a Consultant at RHCH Winchester with a special interest in Minimal Access Surgery in 1995.He sat as a council member for the British Society for Gynaecology for 11 years, and was responsible for the production of national guidelines for the management of ovarian cysts, and best practice in out-patient hysteroscopy.

He leads the BSGE accredited Endometriosis Centre for Hampshire Hospitals Foundation Trust, offering a team approach to advanced surgery for patients who require excision of deep infiltrating endometriosis, in collaboration with a consultant colorectal surgeon, a consultant urologist, and a consultant pain specialist as required. He is departmental lead for laparoscopic surgery and endometriosis, and ambulatory (out-patient) gynaecology in the menstrual disorders clinic.

Long standing interest in the menopause and HRT over the last 25 years. Mr Louden offers a case by case evaluation of treatment options, explaining risks and benefits and helping patients to choose what is right for them as an individual.
