Clinical Interests

  • Hip and knee surgery, particularly painful hips and arthritis in the young. Less invasive hip surgery, uncemented, ceramic bearing Total hip replacement (THR). Revision hip surgery. Total knee replacement (TKR). 

  • Knee and hip arthroscopy, ACL reconstruction and femoro-acetabular impingement surgery.

  • Fracture care and trauma surgery.

Personal profile

Mr Acton specialises in hip, knee and trauma surgery. He has a particular interest in hip surgery in the young and carries out hip arthroscopy, impingement surgery, labral resection and osteochondroplasty. Mr Acton carries out uncemented hip replacements (THR) with ceramic bearings and revision hip surgery for failed hip replacements including hip resurfacing (metal on metal (MoM) or Birmingham hips). 

In the knee, Mr Acton performs arthroscopy, meniscal resection and repair and anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) reconstruction. For knee arthritis he performs uni-compartment knee replacement, total knee replacement (TKR) and osteotomy. He treats fractures of both the upper and lower limbs with surgical and conservative methods.
