Kerstin trained in Heidelberg/Mannheim/Germany, Dublin/Ireland, Singapore and Indonesia, qualified as a specialist General Surgeon in 2000 and as a Plastic Surgeon in one of the biggest plastic surgery units in Europe (Ludwigshafen/Germany) in 2006. Her hand surgery fellowship qualified her as a Hand Surgeon in 2007. She joined the wrist arthroscopy tour in France 2008 and did advanced training in wrist arthroscopy in Strasbourg/France and Derby/UK. She has been a Consultant Plastic and Hand Surgeon in one of the largest Plastic Surgery Departments in the UK in Salisbury/Wiltshire from 2007-2014, and is since a Consultant in the prestigious Birmingham Children’s Hospital.
Next to her NHS commitment she has been in private practice since 2008. Kerstin’s interest within the Plastic Surgery is upper limb, hand and wrist surgery including, wrist arthroscopy and paediatric/congenital upper limb surgery. Hand and wrist conditions such as osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, post traumatic arthritis and acute trauma of hand and wrist, congenital conditions. ganglia, carpal tunnel, Dupuytren’s Disease (surgery and injection treatment), trigger fingers and thumb base pain.
Within plastic surgery Kerstin sees patients for reconstruction of post traumatic conditions or after cancer surgery, including breast reconstruction, skin cancer, scar treatment, as well as general plastic surgery procedures. She further treats children with a variety of plastic surgery conditions.
Within her interest in cosmetic surgery, she offers body shaping (i.e. liposuction, tummy tuck, lifting procedures), face rejuvenation (Botox and fillers), blepharoplasty, pinnaplasty, breast surgery (augmentation, reduction, reconstruction), labial surgery, skin lesions and scar revisions.
Kerstin has taken part in numerous courses and conferences in hand surgery, microsurgery and aesthetic surgery throughout her training internationally. Parallel with her surgical training, she did a Master degree in Healthcare Management at the University of Mannheim/Germany and a degree on European Healthcare Leadership at the INSEAD Business School in Fontainebleau/ France. She was granted an award for the Leadership Award Scheme by the Health Foundation/London in 2009.
Kerstin has been invited internationally to lecture and teach (Strasbourg/France, Buenos Aires/Argentina, Marbach/Germany, San Francisco/US, Boston/US. She has presented 9 peer reviewed publications, 10 non- indexed publications, is co-author of 3 book chapters in international hand surgery and has given numerous presentations internationally. Kerstin speaks fluently English and German, in her spare time, she enjoys travelling, classical music and sports.
