Mr Lyndon Jones was awarded a degree in medicine at the University of Dundee in 1987 and during his subsequent training posts in Scotland and the North West of England he gained considerable experience in general surgery. This included a two-year period spent at the Internationally renowned Christie Hospital in Manchester, training in surgery for complex cancers whilst doing clinical research into the biology of bowel cancer.
Mr Jones specialises in colorectal and breast surgery. In both these areas he works within multidisciplinary teams that include specialists in radiology, pathology, chemotherapy and specialist nurses, which helps in planning the best treatment for his patients.
Mr Jones also provides a comprehensive general surgery service offering all aspects of hernia surgery including abdominal wall reconstruction, keyhole surgery and upper and lower GI endoscopy.
Mr Jones will endeavour to provide his patients with the highest standard of treatment and care, in a relaxed environment. All patients can be assured of a comprehensive assessment and utilisation of all non-operative measures before surgery is considered.
Mr Jones is a strong advocate for Quality and Safety of patient care, having previously been the lead for clinical governance and patient safety in the Department of Surgery at East Lancashire Hospitals NHS Trust. He is currently the Director of Surgery at East Lancashire NHS Trust, one of the key roles of which is overall responsibility for patient safety and ensuring quality of care is maintained.
As a keen teacher he is currently involved in the teaching and development of undergraduate students and postgraduate doctors within East Lancashire NHS Trust and is regularly invited to teach on national teaching courses for junior surgeons in training.
In his spare time Mr Jones enjoys the outdoors and is a keen golfer.
