Ms Lynne Smith is a Healthcare Scientist in GI Physiology, awarded an MBE for services to Healthcare Science in 2014. Ms Smith was a Clinical Manager in GI Physiology at Sheffield Teaching Hospitals for 30 yrs. She has accreditation with the Association of GI Physiologists. Ms Smith works for the Academy of Healthcare Science on a Consultancy basis as the Scientific Training Programme Equivalence Lead and she is also a Non-executive Director of the Academy. Ms Smith worked for Newcastle University for 7 years on the MSc Programme and prior to this at De Montfort University as a lecturer in GI Physiology on the BSc Programmes. She developed the curriculum for the MSc Clinical Science in GI Physiology with the Modernising Scientific Careers Team.

Clinical Interests

Ms Smith's interests are pelvic floor dysfunction and neuromodulation for faecal incontinence and overactive bladder.

Professional Membership

Ms Smith is a registered Clinical Scientist, a Fellow of the Association of GI Physiologists and an Honorary Fellow of the Academy of Healthcare Science. She is an Associate member of the British Society of Gastroenterology.
