Personal Profile

Dr Magnus Lynch is a Consultant Dermatologist and Mohs surgeon. He is highly experienced in all aspects of dermatology with a particular interest in the diagnosis and treatment of skin cancer. He is a consultant Mohs Surgeon at St John's Institute of Dermatology, Guy's and St Thomas' Hospital, London - an internationally recognised centre of excellence for the treatment of skin disease - and is also a consultant in the specialist melanoma unit.

Dr Lynch was a scholar at Christ’s College, Cambridge and graduated in medicine in 2003. He subsequently passed membership examinations for both the Royal College of Physicians and the Royal College of Surgeons and completed specialist training in Dermatology at the internationally renowned St John’s Institute of Dermatology, Guy's and St Thomas' Hospital, gaining entry to the GMC specialist register in 2017. After completion of training in Dermatology, he undertook a highly competitive fellowship in Mohs surgery and advanced Dermatological surgery at St John's Institute of Dermatology.

In addition to his clinical work, Dr Lynch has a strong interest in skin research. During his training he completed a PhD at the Institute of Molecular Medicine, University of Oxford and was awarded a prestigious Academic Clinical Lectureship at St John’s Institute of Dermatology where he performed postdoctoral research in the laboratory of Professor Fiona Watt, King’s College London. This work led to multiple high impact publications and he was awarded the Hugh Wallace Prize by the Dermatology section of the Royal Society of Medicine.

He continues to be actively involved in skin research and is a Senior Lecturer at King’s College London where he leads a research team investigating cellular biology of the skin and the role of artificial intelligence in dermatology.
