Mr Mahesh Kumar is a Consultant Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeon. Mr Kumar studied dentistry in 1990 and medicine in 1998 at Kings College, London.  Mr Kumar has worked in hospitals across the country and with his background in medicine and dentistry, he has specialised in the area of oral and maxillofacial surgery.  Mr Kumar completed his fellowship in dental surgery in 1993 and registrar level at The Royal London hospital involving orthognathic, trauma, dentoalveolar and oncological surgery.   During his term at medical school, Mr Kumar undertook study in oral cancer at The Regional hospital, Trivandrum in South India for which he was presented with the Preiskal Prize in Surgery from the Royal College of Surgeons of England.

During his career, Mr Kumar has gained essential experience in ear, nose and throat surgery, accident and emergency medicine and general surgery.  He gained the FRCS in clinical surgery in general in 2000.  He trained in teaching hospitals including UCLH, St George’s and NWL Hospitals.  Mr Kumar currently holds posts as a Consultant at Hillingdon Hospital and Northwick Park Hospital.  Mr Kumar has private practices at the The Clementine Churchill Hospital, Bishops Wood Hospital  and The Wellington Hospital. He is actively involved in research studies and has published widely around his field of expertise.  He is the Educational Supervisor for juniors in OMFS at the regional maxillofacial unit at NWLH. During the COVID pandemic he provided a Tracheostomy service and worked at The Royal Marsden Hospital carrying out major cancer surgery.

Mr Mahesh Kumar is able to perform surgery on children at The Clementine Churchill Hospital.

Mr Kumar likes playing football (5 a-side), Badminton and Golf. He supports Arsenal F.C. None of this helps with his surgery!!

Mr Kumar is an Ambassador President elect for the Mouth Cancer Foundation Charity.  He is Involved in advising the Mouth Cancer Foundation with queries that patients may have and also to promote the awareness of mouth and other head and neck cancers.  He has also been involved in the 10k Mouth Cancer Awareness Walk every year for the last 11 years.

Prior to the COVID pandemic Mr Kumar was available for GP and Dental Surgeon lectures.  During the last 18 months he has carried out lectures online for the Wellington Hospital and also for the Mouth Cancer Foundation and British Society of Head and Neck imaging.
