Margaret Mitchell is a Trauma Psychotherapist in General Adult Mental Health. She graduated from the University of Strathclyde in 1999 with a Postgraduate diploma in Person-Centred counselling and has since undertaken specialist training throughout the UK in Emotion Focused Therapy, CBT, Couple counselling, Mindfulness and Trauma therapy.
She has also worked in several GP surgeries in the Glasgow area until 2005. She began working at Albyn Hospital as a Counsellor in 2005 and has maintained a clinic here since then. From 2008 until 2013 Margaret also held a post as Head of Counselling and later as Manager for an established local charity.
Developing a keen interest in Trauma therapy, during 2015 she began specialising in this area and is now a European accredited Trauma therapist, using Eye Movement Desensitisation Reprocessing (EMDR). After the Manchester Arena bombing in 2017 Margaret undertook further specialist training and is currently registered with Trauma Aid UK offering emergency trauma therapy to those in crisis.
Currently Margaret works in Mental health private practice in Aberdeen and has begun a Trauma clinic at Albyn Hospital.
