Mr Mark Gallagher is a consultant Podiatrist, practising from The Priory. He qualified from the University of Huddersfield in 1994 and went on to complete his Master’s Thesis on injection techniques for chronic soft tissue problems in 2000.
Mark worked as a Clinical Specialist for the University Hospital Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust from 1996-2010. The post also had a large Rheumatology caseload and he was actively involved in the mechanical management of this patient group.
In addition to the post at UHBFT Mark was Clinical Lead for Podiatry at the Royal Orthopaedic Hospital in Birmingham from 1998-2011. This service focused on the musculoskeletal and mechanical overuse conditions associated with varying activities. The role also involved dealing with post-operative foot and ankle complications following surgery and also a paediatric caseload.
Mark's experience is primarily within both acute and chronic joint and soft tissue problems. Mark works across the whole spectrum of the rehabilitation phases following injury, in particular, ankle injury, ankle instabilities and ankle fractures. This is mainly due to Mark's involvement in an extensive trauma caseload within the NHS.
Mark is involved with a large rheumatology population dealing with people with inflammatory arthropathy and degenerative joint disease. This patient caseload also includes both acute and chronic soft tissue injury, dealing particularly with Achilles tendon, medial flexor and peroneal soft tissue structures.
