Personal profile

Mr Wood is a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon based at the West Suffolk Hospital with a private practice at BMI St Edmunds Hospital.

Mr Wood undertook most of his orthopaedic training at the Nuffield Orthopaedic Centre in Oxford. Prior to joining West Suffolk Hospital Mr Wood undertook a fellowship in general and upper limb surgery with the Melbourne Orthopaedic Group renowned for treating Australia’s leading athletes.

Mr Wood is now a well known orthopaedic Surgeon in East Anglia. For five years he was Lead Clinician of the West Suffolk Orthopaedic Department, and he is still involved with teaching and training junior surgeons. In 2012 he was elected by the consultants of the region to be the Royal College of Surgeons Advisor in East Anglia. He also regularly serves as an advisor to the Health Service Ombudsman. He represented Orthopaedics on the project to create the East of England Trauma Network and the Addenbrookes Major Trauma Centre.

Mr Wood’s long and broad experience of orthopaedics enables him to provide patients with management that is tailored precisely to their needs and wishes. He has always made sure that his patients are offered choice in their treatment and are helped to understand the options, not necessarily only surgical, that are available.

Mr Wood is married with two teenage children, and enjoys travelling and climbing mountains. His wife is a local GP so he has a clear understanding of the needs of General Practitioners.
