Matthew Hough qualified from Medical School in Newcastle upon Tyne in 1994. Having trained at several prestigious units in the UK he completed his specialist training after a Fellowship in Plastic Surgery at Flinders Medical Centre, Adelaide, Australia.
He was appointed as Consultant Reconstructive and Plastic Surgeon at Ninewells Hospital, Dundee in 2009. As an NHS consultant his major interests are melanoma and skin cancer, perineal reconstruction and hypospadias surgery.
He is a fully accredited Plastic Surgeon and is on the General Medical Council’s Specialist Register for Plastic Surgery. He is a full member of the British Association of Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgeons (BAPRAS).
He takes an active role in research and medical training and carries out regular reviews and audits of his own practice to constantly monitor his performance and outcomes.
He has numerous publications in the plastic surgery literature, hosted conferences, contributed chapters to medical textbooks and presented at scientific and surgical meetings.
As well as carrying out skin lesion and cancer surgery, in private practice he specialises in cosmetic surgery of the breast (augmentation, reduction and mastopexy), abdomen (abdominoplasty, tummy tuck) and eyelids (blepharoplasty).
