Mr Michael Lamparelli has a specialist interest in treating patients with Colorectal disease including haemorrhoids. He has been treating patients since 1996 and on average treats 100 patients per month across the NHS and private hospitals.
He was appointed to the Dorset County Hospital in 2002 as a Consultant Colorectal and General Surgeon. His NHS work covers Dorchester, Blandford, Weymouth and the surrounding areas. His private work is based at BMI The Winterbourne Hospital. Michael Lamparelli qualified from the University of Southampton in 1992 and has worked in various hospitals including St George's Hospital, London and the Flinders Medical Centre in Adelaide, Australia.
Mr Lamparelli is a member of the Association of Coloproctology of Great Britain and Ireland with whom he has worked as a preceptor for the Procedure for prolapsing haemorrhoids (PPH). He also has a keen interest in disorders of the pelvic floor and has pioneered a multi-disciplinary approach to treating conditions of pelvic floor weakness causing haemorrhoids, constipation and incontinence. He has been invited to talk about his work across the UK and in Europe and regularly runs courses for consultants from other hospitals.
His research interests are in Obstructive Defaecation and Incontinence. Mr Lamparelli has many clinical interests that include: colorectal cancer, hernia repair, laparoscopic surgery, diagnostic & therapeutic endoscopy, haemorrhoids, anal fissure and fistula as well as the management of constipation and incontinence.
