Personal Profile

Prof Saunders qualified from University College London in 1993 and was accredited  by the Royal College of Surgeons in Edinburgh in 1997. He was appointed as a Consultant General Surgeon at Barnet Hospital in 2008 moving to Chase Farm in 2010.

Professor Saunders is a Colorectal Surgeon who is proficient at laparoscopic surgery for gall stone disease, hernia repair and bowel cancer. He has undertaken research into post operative pain following laparoscopic surgery.

Prof Saunders is a keen advocate for the use of day surgery has published many articles on this topic. He is a member of the British Association of Day Surgey and is the Surgical Lead for the Day Surgery Unit at Barnet & Chase Farm Hospitals.
