Personal profile

Trained in London South West Thames Region Surgical Training Programme.  Specialist Training in Colorectal Surgery at Cleveland Clinic, Florida, USA.  Appointed Consultant in Worthing in 2003.  Surgical tutor at the Royal College of Surgeons, 2005.

Surgical endoscopy lead Worthing Hospital, member National Cancer Peer Review Team (since 2005) and Reviewer for British Journal of Surgery. He is also appointed as Clinical Senior Lecturer in Surgery at Brighton and Sussex Medical School.

Mr Baig has been instrumental in the development of Laparoscopic Colorectal Surgery at Worthing.  He has presented his results of surgery in both national and international meetings.  He has a special interest in hernia repair, colonoscopy, laparoscopic surgery for colorectal cancer and benign conditions such as diverticular disease and inflammatory bowel disease. 

He is developing management of faecal incontinence including assessment with endonal ultrasound and anal sphincter repairs.

Colonoscopy, laparoscopic colorectal surgery, hernia surgery. Inflammatory bowel disease, faecal incontinence, THD (Transarterial arterial haemorrhoidal dearterialisation, markedly less painful treatment of haemorrhoids). Various anaorectal problems such as fissure, abscess, rectal prolapse.
