Dr Muhammad Ahsan Akhtar is a Consultant Gynaecologist with subspecialist accreditation in Reproductive Medicine & Surgery from the Royal College of Obstetricians & Gynaecologists, UK. He has expertise in the field of Reproductive Medicine, both in female and male subfertility. His areas of interest include assisted reproduction (ovulation induction, intrauterine insemination, IVF and ICSI), andrology (male subfertility prevention, surveillance and treatment including surgical sperm retrieval and male reproductive endocrinology), 3D pelvic ultrasound and adolescent gynaecology.

Dr Akhtar has been a Consultant Gynaecologist in Reproductive Medicine & Andrology, Subspecialist in Reproductive Medicine and Surgery at St. Mary’s Hospital Manchester since 2015. He received his training in Obstetrics & Gynaecology and Reproductive Medicine & Surgery in the UK. He obtained his MD from University of Warwick in Reproductive Medicine.

He has published widely on many aspects of Gynaecology and Reproductive Medicine including Cochrane Reviews. He has presented nationally and internationally on various aspects of the specialty.

Dr Akhtar is passionate about Reproductive Medicine and Andrology aiming to improve outcomes for couples. He is well known amongst his patients for his kind and caring nature as well as his impeccable attention to detail.

In addition to Reproductive Medicine and Surgery, Dr Akhtar also has clinical interests in pelvic pain, menstrual disorders, gynaecological endocrinology (including PCOS) and hysteroscopy management of intrauterine abnormalities (including fibroids, septa and congenital uterine anomalies).
