His NHS practice is at the Northern Care Alliance Group in Manchester, with clinical duties mainly at The Royal Oldham Hospital, Rochdale Infirmary and Fairfield General Hospital.
Dr Iftikhar is actively involved in the provision of Gastroenterology and Hepatology services at The Royal Oldham Hospital, including outpatient clinics, inpatient ward rounds, endoscopy lists, dedicated liver clinics and Fibro scans. He is an experienced upper GI and lower GI, JAG-accredited endoscopist.
He did further training with a bowel cancer screening team and was awarded the full JAG Bowel Cancer Screener accreditation.
Dr Iftikhar completed his specialist training in Health Education England - North West (HEE-NW) and completed a Liver Transplant fellowship at the Liver Unit of Freeman Hospital in Newcastle upon Tyne. He has been working in the North West since 2007.
He trained in world-renowned centres of liver transplant units and tertiary nutrition units of gastroenterology, including South Manchester University Hospital, Newcastle University Hospitals and Leicester Royal Infirmary.
Dr Iftikhar is an active Medical, Academic, and Clinical Educator accredited by the Royal College of Physicians London. He teaches and trains international gastroenterology trainees at Global Training Centre of Edge Hill University and final year medical students from the University of Manchester.
