Personal profile

Dr Omendra (Omi) Narayan is a Consultant Respiratory Paediatrician at BMI The Alexandra Hospital.

Training and Appointment

Dr Narayan qualified in 2002, and did his paediatric specialist rotation in London. He currently works as Consultant and Honorary Senior Lecturer at Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital.

Dr Narayan did his sub specialist training in respiratory medicine at three large centres, including Great Ormond Street Hospital and Birmingham Children’s Hospital. He worked as a consultant at Birmingham Children’s Hospital before taking up a consultant post at Royal Manchester Children’s hospital in 2015.

Along with his other respiratory colleagues they provide the tertiary respiratory services in the North West, which is one of the biggest in the country.

Current Practice

Currently, Dr Narayan is the lead for clinical governance; sleep service and non-invasive ventilation at Royal Manchester Children’s hospital. He is passionate for education and training and heavily involved at local and national level training activities.

He is also involved in national training activities for senior registrars in Paediatrics, and is the quality advisor at Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health for Paediatric respiratory medicine.


Dr Omi Narayan has widely published in international journals and sits on editorial board for many international journals, and is currently involved in many trials at Manchester Children’s Hospital.
