I pursued my higher specialist training in the West Midlands having trained in all the major hospitals in Birmingham. During my training I developed an interest in breathing and ventilation which led to a research period of at least 2 years at the University of Birmingham.
I have gained expertise in various aspects of sleep and breathing disorders along with the use of portable home machines for breathing support and sleep apnoea. I also review general respiratory patients with problems such as asthma, cough and breathlessness.
Currently I am employed as a Consultant Respiratory and Sleep Physician at the City Hospital (Dudley Road), Birmingham. I am the lead clinician in my hospital for sleep apnoea and home ventilation (such as related to sleep apnea, obesity and muscle weakness) and undertake regular specialist clinics in sleep (sleep apnoea, snoring, sleep disorders) and non-invasive ventilation(NIV).
I aim to undertake an in-depth evaluation of my patient’s problem and ensure that appropriate timely investigations are arranged to quickly reach a diagnosis. Treatment options are discussed and tailored to patient’s expectations and circumstances.
