Personal profile

After completing his training in general dermatology at Oxford and Manchester Dr Telfer undertook fellowship training in Mohs Micrographic Surgery at the University of California, Los Angeles, USA. Following this, he worked as a Mohs surgeon at UCLA for a further 12 months before returning to the UK and setting up the Mohs Micrographic Surgery Unit in Manchester.

He has been a Consultant since 1994 and have performed in excess of 25 thousand Mohs cases, making me the most experienced Mohs surgeon in the UK. Dr Telfer is  a Fellow of the American College of Mohs Surgery (ACMS), which is the leading professional Mohs surgery association in the world. He is also  a Senior NHS hospital Consultant, engaged in education and training of Mohs / dermatological surgery on our teaching program. Lead author on the national guidelines for the management of basal cell carcinoma.
