Personal profile

Nicky Saini has worked in the field of nutrition since 1994. After completing a Master's degree in Human Nutrition at King's College London, she completed a PhD in Nutrition of the Elderly at Liverpool John Moores University. After 6 years of working on nutrition research Dr Saini completed a PG Diploma in Nutrition and Dietetics from London Metropolitan University in 2008. After this she worked as a dietitian at Princess Royal University Hospital. She then went to work at West Suffolk Hospital where she gained experience in acute and community Dietetics.

Having worked in acute and community settings, Dr Saini has experience of providing dietetic support in a range of clinical conditions that have a bearing on nutritional status. She is passionate about Gastroenterology, Diabetes and Obesity as these specialisms have given her invaluable insight into conditions where effectiveness of therapy depends on the knowledge and experience of the clinician and rapport that he or she can establish with the patient. To maximise her skills in these specialisms Dr Saini has worked with various teams and patients with complex needs and have undertaken courses such as use of low FODMAPs diet for IBS and other gut conditions, use of dietary manipulation for obesity and carbohydrate counting for diabetes.

Dr Saini has presented on nutrition and her research on n-3 polyunsaturated fatty acids and cardiovascular risk factors has been published in peer reviewed journals.
