Mr Nigel Rossiter is a Consultant Trauma & Orthopaedic Surgeon in Basingstoke, UK.
His principal areas of practice are in all aspects of Knee surgery, soft tissue Shoulder surgery and Orthopaedic Trauma.
Mr Nigel Rossiter has been the Clinical Lead for Trauma & Major Incidents and previous Clinical Director at the Basingstoke & North Hampshire Hospital – Hampshire Hospitals: where he worked from 2002-2020. Previously in the British Army as a Trauma Orthopaedic Surgeon (1985-2003) – he trained in London, Londonderry, Belfast, Gosport, Plymouth, and Oxford, and, has done fellowship training in UK, USA (San Antonio, Dallas, Baltimore & Seattle) & Russia.
Mr Nigel Rossiter led the setting up of the South Central Trauma System & Networks. He is a Past President of the Orthopaedic Trauma Society, Chair of the trustees of the Primary Trauma Care Foundation, and, founder of a hospital charity. He works with the G4Alliance for the United Nations and with the World Health Organisation. He has been Trainer of the Year for the Wessex area twice, twice “NHS Shine Awards Inspiring Educator of the year”, and, a recipient of the Hippocrates Award for excellence in the field of medicine from Who’s Who. He has been a member of a NICE committee on VTE. He co-authored the original STEP course for surgeons in training for RCSEng & has been a Basic Surgical Skills tutor. He is Chairman of Incision Medical Indemnity: insuring 200+ surgeons. He has previously chaired Orthopaedic Trauma education for UK & Ireland. He has also been faculty for the Current Concepts, Training the Trainers, Faculty Development, and many other international courses as well as developing recent on-line learning courses. He is married with four rugby playing and skiing sons.
