Mr Panayiotis Kyzas is a Consultant in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. He specialises in Head and Neck Oncological Surgery (ablation and reconstruction), laser surgery, facial aesthetics and has a particular interest and case-portfolio for 3D printer – guided, patient specific, personalised surgery (PSP).
At BMI The Huddersfield Hospital, Mr Kyzas offers consultations for neck and facial cosmetic surgery, and also oral maxillofacial surgery.
Mr Kyzas was trained in the North West and he has been awarded the Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. Subsequently, he has undertaken one of the very few and prestigious UK-wide Training Interface (TIG) Fellowships in Head and Neck Surgical Oncology. He has successfully completed his fellowship to become an accredited Head and Neck Surgeon (JCST).
Mr Kyzas has a long history of involvement in medical research. He has completed a PhD thesis which has resulted in several highly cited publications in prestigious medical journals. He is a panel member for the selection committees for trainees in every level in OMFS. He is the Lead trainer for the TIG H&N fellowship for his hospital and the Research Lead for HEENW. He is the Principal Investigator for many clinical trials. He is a faculty member for surgical courses endorsed by the RCSEd. He is a Lecturer at the University of Manchester. In 2018 he was awarded the «Surgical Educator Excellence Award» by HEENW. As from 2019, he is the Clinical Lead for H&N Cancer in Northern Care Alliance. In 2018 Mr Kyzas was elected a Deputy Editor for the British Journal of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery (BJOMS). This is a 10 year post (5 years as Deputy and 5 years as Editor in Chief).
In 2014 he was appointed as a Consultant in OMFS/Head and Neck Surgery in Manchester. He has treated hundreds of patients with Head and Neck cancer, offering state of the art major ablative and reconstructive surgery. His specialises in microvascular free tissue transfer and he has introduced and developed the 3D printer – personalised planning (PSP) reconstructive surgery in his hospital. Besides head and neck cancer, Mr Kyzas offers treatment to patients with facial skin cancer, oral and maxillofacial trauma, dentoalveolar surgery, orthognathic surgery, salivary gland diseases, facial cosmetic surgery, surgery of the temporomandibular joint, and anything else within the broad spectrum of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. He has a special interest in the use of laser for oral pathologies.
