Mr Paul Bachoo qualified from the University of Leicester in 1987 and trained in Leicester, Liverpool and Aberdeen. He was appointed Consultant in Vascular Surgery at Aberdeen Royal Infirmary in 2001.
Mr Bachoo has extensive experience in minimally invasive varicose vein surgery. He is currently the only Surgeon in Aberdeenshire to have experience with Clarivein, a new minimally invasive, non-thermal technology for varicose veins.
His practice also includes all aspects of arterial disease. He set up the endovascular aortic aneurysm repair service in Aberdeen and has presented at all major national and international congresses on innovations in endovascular aneurysm repair.
Mr Bachoo is a member of the British Society of Endovascular Therapy and gained training status for Aberdeen Royal Infirmary’s Vascular Surgery Unit. In 2010 he was invited to sit on the Editorial Board of the Cochrane Vascular Review Group as well as review editor for the British Journal of Surgery. More recently he has set up the Shockwave service for treating venous ulcers which has seen presentations both in the scientific community and the local press.
Mr Bachoo is an active member of the Vascular Society of Great Britain and Ireland, is a Vascular Advisor to the School of Vascular Surgery in Scotland and a key opinion leader in venous and endovascular surgery. In addition to his research interests, he is also the head of the Vascular Surgery Service and Clinical lead for the National Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm Screening Programme in the North East of Scotland, Shetland and Orkney.
Mr Bachoo is also an Honorary Lecturer to the University of Aberdeen. He has 40 peer reviewed journal publications and 50 podium presentations and is/has been a co-applicant on a number of significant health research grants.
