Personal profile

Mr Goldsmith is a Consultant General Surgeon, who was appointed in 2017, with a specialist interest in UGI surgery at Manchester Foundation Trust.

He graduated from The University of Leeds and subsequently trained in Yorkshire, where he attained an MD in "1H NMR spectrometric identification of biomarkers in renal transplantation”. However, he moved to Manchester for higher surgical training and then spent a period of time in The Netherlands. 

Moreover, within his current consultant role, he is general surgical lead clinician for the national emergency laparotomy audit, and lead for frailty within general surgery where he is heading up an NHS England pilot study. The study focuses on the care of patients undergoing abdominal operations with underlying co-morbidities.

In addition, Mr Goldsmith has over 30 publications and has presented his work nationally and internationally, while regularly partaking in undergraduate teaching.
