Personal profile

Dr Hawkins qualified from St. George's Hospital Medical School in 1990 after which he trained in general and respiratory medicine in London. Specialist training included posts at St. George's, The Royal Brompton and a three year research fellowship at King's College Hospital which led to the award of a PhD.  

A Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians and Royal Society of Medicine, he is also a member of the British Thoracic Society, previously serving on their Professional Standards Committee. Dr Hawkins is a member of the European Respiratory Society and the American College of Chest Physicians.

Clinical Interests

Having undertaken research in patients with severe smoking related lung disease (COPD) and been a full time Consultant in Respiratory Medicine for 13 years, Dr Hawkins is now mainly interested in helping patients with chronic cough and/or unexplained breathlessness.
