Miss Thampi is a consultant gynaecologist at Milton Keynes University Hospital. She has more than 20 years of experience in gynaecology and undertakes a wide range of gynaecological surgical procedures. Miss Thampi’s elective NHS and private practices encompass all routine gynaecological procedures as well as keyhole surgery for many procedures. Miss Thampi obtained her basic Medical Degree from Madras (India) and completed her general obstetrics and gynaecology training in England. She obtained her fellowship (FRCOG) from The Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists, London, and has also worked in major teaching hospitals and large district general hospitals in London.
After completion of specialist training in gynaecology, Miss Thampi obtained her MSc in Medical Ultrasound from Guys, Kings and St Thomas Hospital, London. Miss Thampi performs in excess of 30 major open operations every year particularly hysterectomies (abdominal and vaginal) and prolapse repairs as well as myomectomies. She is also skilled in laparoscopic surgery and regularly performs numerous laparoscopic procedures such as removal of tubes and or ovaries, removal of cysts and has hysteroscopic skills in performing Myosure removal of endometrial polyps and submucous fibroids.
Miss Thampi is a Fellow of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists and is the Lead Clinician for Primary Care Outpatient clinic in gynaecology under the Milton Keynes Clinical Commissioning Group. Miss Thampi is the Clinical Governance Lead for the department at MKUH and jointly with colleagues, ensures improvement in quality of care through a rigorous governance process.
Having worked as Clinical Lecturer in St Georges University, London, Miss Thampi continues to maintain her teaching portfolio. She is preceptor for Advanced Training Skill Modules in Obstetrics and Gynaecology and is a member of the Faculty for Enhanced Revision Programme for MRCOG examination.
