Dr Qurrat Mehmood is a consultant Clinical Oncologist at BMI Three Shires Hospital, Northampton General hospital, with sessions at University Hospital Leicester and Kettering General hospital. She is the head and neck cancer lead at Northampton General Hospital.
Dr Qurrat graduated from Liverpool University medical School in 2003 obtaining a MBCHB with honours.
After completion of general medical training she started specialist training in Clinical Oncology in the Northwest, including training at the Christie Hospital, Manchester and Rosemere Cancer centre in Preston.
In 2013 Dr Qurrat undertook a clinical research fellowship at The Princess Margaret Cancer centre in Toronto, gaining clinical expertise in lung radiation oncology, image guided radiotherapy (IGRT), intensity modulated radiotherapy (IMRT) and stereotactic radiotherapy for lung cancer and lung metastases.
The research projects included a review of outcomes for stereotactic radiotherapy in lung metastases and the use of PET imaging during chemoradiotherapy for lung cancer.
Dr Qurrat has continue to pursue her interest in stereotactic radiotherapy and undertook further experience with world leading experts at Princess Margaret Cancer centre, Toronto in June 2015. This provides Dr Qurrat with in-depth knowledge and experience in body stereotactic radiotherapy including brain, spine and liver subsites.
