Personal profile

Professor Ahmad has qualified from Sheffield University Medical School and trained in General Medicine in Sheffield and Hull and subsequently in Cardiology in the West Midlands. He was appointed to current post in 1994. 

Professor Ahmad served as Clinical Director of Birmingham, Sandwell and Solihull Cardiac Network and Chair of the West Midlands Cardiac Services Committee (2003-2008), Clinical Director (Cardiology) in Sandwell and West Birmingham Hospitals NHS Trust for 6 years (2007-2013) and was a member of the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) guideline development group (Lipid modification) in 2012-2014.
