Mr Rakesh Kucheria is an expert in joint replacement surgery, specialising in lower limb anthroplasty including hip replacements, unicondylar knee replacements, revision hip and total knee replacements. He performs more than 300 hip and knee replacements each year, putting him in the top percent of UK surgeons.

For the last 18 years Mr Kucheria has been working at Heatherwood and Wexham Park hospitals, now part of Frimley Health NHS Foundation Trust and is currently the lead clinician in his department. Mr Kucheria qualified in 1989, training at Royal London Hospital and the world renowned Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital in Stanmore. Mr Kucheria has been consistently recognised by the trust with Clinical Excellence Awards.

As well as joint replacement surgery, Mr Kucheria has extensive experience of endoprosthetic reconstruction for failed anthroplasty, pathological fractures and hip and knee revision procedures for loose or infected joints. More recently, Mr Kucheria has been working with computer-assisted surgery and navigated hip and knee replacements. Mr Kucheria also leads the Enhanced Recovery Programme in both his NHS and private practices, which is a revolutionary pathway for joint replacements designed to minimise post-operative pain and maximise early mobility of the joint.
