Mr Ramesh Chennagiri

Personal profile

Mr Chennagiri is a full-time consultant in trauma and orthopaedics at Buckinghamshire Healthcare NHS Trust with a special interest in wrist and hand surgery. Mr Chennagiri runs clinics and operates at Stoke Mandeville Hospital and Wycombe Hospital.

He commenced his orthopaedic training in India and obtained a post-graduate degree. After passing the FRCS (Surgery in General) examination, Mr Chennagiri underwent Higher Specialist Training as a Specialist Registrar in trauma and orthopaedics in Oxford Deanery. He developed an interest in wrist and hand surgery and worked with hand surgeons in Oxford and Reading. Mr Chennagiri obtained the FRCS (Tr & Orth) in 2008.

He undertook further training in various aspects of wrist and hand surgery as a clinical fellow at Pulvertaft Hand Centre in Derby. The Unit is one of the few dedicated to hand surgery in the country and has renowned orthopaedic surgeons, plastic surgeons and hand therapists involved in clinical, research and educational aspects of wrist and hand conditions including acute injuries.

During his fellowship, Mr Chennagiri completed the Diploma in Hand Surgery run jointly by the British Society for Surgery of the Hand and the University of Manchester. He also co-authored a book chapter on the role of arthroscopy in distal radius fractures.

Mr Chennagiri has presented papers in national and international meetings and published articles in orthopaedic and hand surgery journals.

Outside of work, he enjoys spending time with family and friends. He is a keen cricketer and enjoys playing, watching and reading about the game.
