Personal profile

Dr Lingam is a consultant radiologist with a special interest in head and neck/ENT imaging. He has been practicing at BMI The Clementine Churchill Hospital and BMI Bishop’s Wood Hospital since 2007.

His expertise include reporting a wide variety of head and neck/ENT CT and MRI examinations and performing ultrasound guided fine-needle biopsies of the neck and thyroid. Regular audits of ultrasound fine-needle biopsies demonstrate diagnostic yields of 90% (above recommended target of 80%1).

Dr Lingam’s NHS hospital base is at Northwick Park & Central Middlesex Hospitals, London North West University Healthcare NHS Trust, London. As an educational supervisor for radiology, Dr Lingam supports the regional Northwest London Head and Neck and Thyroid Cancer network. He also a committee member of the British Society of Head and Neck Imaging, and a fellow of the European Society of Head and Neck Radiologists. He is one of few radiologists in UK who has successfully obtained the subspecialist European Diploma in Head & Neck Imaging.

Research and educational work involves a broad spectrum of head and neck imaging with publications in several high impact factor peer-reviewed journals. He is co-organiser for the long-running Annual London Multidisciplinary Team head and Neck Imaging course at Northwick Park Hospital.

His is committed to medical education, a college tutor for the UK Royal College of Radiologists, Honorary Senior Clinical Lecturer at Imperial College London and lead tutor for the European Society of Radiologists’ Foreign Exchange Fellowship Programme in Head and Neck Radiology. He is also an editor for the European Journal of Radiology.
