Dr Richard Best qualified at Cambridge and St Thomas’ Hospital in 1968. He has worked at Papworth Hospital as a Heart Transplant Physician and subsequently as a Consultant Cardiologist and General Physician For the Regional Medical Centre Pennsylvania. He then went on to the role of Director of intensive care at the Regional Medical Centre Pennsylvania (elected FACC FCCP).

Before moving to Airedale Hospital in 2010, Dr Best was a Consultant Cardiologist at Burnley Hospital and East Lancashire Hospitals and the lead cardiologist. Dr Best is also an examiner for membership of the Royal Colleges of Physicians of London and Edinburgh. He has also produced many publications specifically on chest pain and other cardiology problems.
