Dr Richard Fry is a Consultant Child, Family, Adolescent and Adult Psychiatrist. His private practice now includes a base at BMI Sarum Road Hospital in Winchester.
Dr Fry’s combination of specialties arises from his wide interest and experience over many years in the field. He began work 25 years ago in adult psychiatry and soon became interested in family psychiatry, including work involving children. This then lead him into working with child and adolescents. Unlike many Consultant Psychiatrists, Dr Fry is trained as a family therapist, as well as being trained in psychotherapy. This enables him to carry out his own therapeutic work in a wide range of modalities. Dr Fry is also able to use medications where deemed appropriate and helpful.
Before moving to the Hampshire area where he was appointed Joint Clinical Director of Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service (CAMHS), Dr Fry was Head of a London Child and Adolescent service. He has worked exclusively in the private sector since 2004 focussing on his areas of clinical interest. His aim has been to create a service of repute, quality and excellence in collaboration with a group of hand selected colleagues.
Dr Fry also provides medico-legal services largely based around child protection and contact issues. He also provides services in respect of insurance-based claims and SEN tribunals.
Dr Fry has a strong background in systemic, psychoanalytic and holistic approaches which are core to his philosophy. He is now Director of Dr Fry and Associates working from Sarum Road Hospital and other sites in the area.
