Richard Haywood trained at St Thomas's Hospital Medical School, London. His surgical training took place at a number of hospitals in East Anglia, Oxford and the Midlands and included a Fellowship in Cutaneous Laser therapy at Bedford Laser Treatment Centre.
After a broad training in Plastic Surgery, a specialist training post in Nottingham allowed Richard Haywood to develop special interests in Breast Reconstruction, Microsurgery, and Cosmetic Surgery. He was invited to join the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital because of his interests in Breast reconstruction and microsurgery.
As a keen teacher he has always been involved in training other surgeons and regularly teaches on Plastic Surgery Skills Courses at the Royal College of Surgeons of England.
