Mr Richard Parkinson was appointed Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon at Wirral NHS Trust in 1994. He did overseas fellowships in: Melbourne, Australia and Seattle, USA. His main specialist interest is in surgery of the knee and has an interest in revision knee replacement including the treatment of infection. He also perform a large numbers of knee arthroscopies and ligament reconstructions.
In 2010 he was voted, by peers, as one of the top ten UK knee arthroplasty surgeons in a Daily Mail poll, and has served on the executive of BASK (British Association for Surgery of the Knee) since 2006 and is currently the president.
Mr Parkinson also reviews papers for the BJJ and have served on the Professional Practice Committee of the British Orthopaedic Association. He was also the clinical director of the Orthopaedic Directorate of Wirral NHS Trust between 2004-2009
