Mr Richard Hopcroft is a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon specialising in surgery of the hip and knee. After graduating from Liverpool University in 1993 he pursued his early surgical training throughout the North West. A period of research study at Nottingham University was rewarded with a DM higher degree. His orthopaedic training was completed in 2008 and further complemented by fellowships in a respected clinic in North America and two clinics in Australia.
This has provided a wealth of experience in joint replacement and arthroscopic surgery of the hip and knee. Mr Hopcroft was appointed as a consultant at South Tees Hospital Trust in 2010, with sessions at James Cook University Hospital and Friarage Hospital Northallerton. Having previously worked as a consultant at Harrogate.
Since his appointment he has led a team to introduce enhanced recovery techniques in hip and knee replacement surgery. This marks a big change in approach, benefiting patient comfort and satisfaction following the surgery; minimising the effects of the procedure. Mr Hopcroft is able to offer specialist surgery in all aspects of hip and knee replacement including uni-compartment and computer navigation, together with arthroscopic surgery of the knee.
