Personal Profile

Mr Rob Yate is a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon at Glangwili Hospital Carmarthen and Prince Phillip Hospital, Llanelli. Originally from the Midlands, his family moved to Carmarthenshire in 1989. After graduating from the University of Wales College of Medicine, Cardiff in 1995, he carried his basic surgical training posts throughout south Wales. He undertook his Higher Surgical Training in Wales and the south west of England. Mr Yate became a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons in Trauma and Orthopaedics in 2007.

During his training, he developed a specialist interest in conditions of the lower limb including arthritis and sports injuries such as ligament rupture and cartilage damage within the knee. He performs most of his soft tissue knee surgery through arthroscopic techniques and also performs “open” surgery such as hip and knee replacement including partial knee replacement and patello-femoral replacement.
