Personal profile

Dr Robin Smith qualified from Edinburgh University and undertook training in General Medicine and Respiratory Medicine in Edinburgh, Bristol and Dundee.

He undertook a year’s research fellowship in sleep apnoea in Grenoble in France prior to taking up his first consultant post at the Victoria Hospital, Fife in 1988. He then moved to his current post at Ninewells Hospital, Dundee in 2001.

Dr Smith’s main clinical interests are in sleep apnoea and interstitial lung disease, but he also has considerable expertise across all respiratory conditions. In addition to his clinical commitments Dr Smith is very involved in post-graduate education and training, and he holds the management role of Associate Medical Director for Medicine at NHS Tayside.

  • Dr Smith’s main clinical interests are in sleep apnoea and Interstitial Lung disease.
