Mr Fernando is a Consultant Obstetrician & Gynaecologist and a Subspecialist in Urogynaecology at St Mary’s Hospital, Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust, Paddington, London. He is also an Honorary Senior Lecturer at the Imperial College, London.
He had his General Obstetrics & Gynaecology training at Southend Hospital, Essex; University Hospital of North Staffordshire, Stoke on Trent and Leeds General Infirmary, Leeds. He had his subspeciality training in Urogynaecology at Mayday University Hospital, Croydon, Surrey. He was awarded a Doctor of Medicine degree from Keele University, Staffordshire for his research on prevention and management of perineal injury during childbirth.
In addition, he has won several awards including the Harold Malkin Prize for the Best Original Research awarded by the RCOG in 2006. He has published over 40 peer reviewed research papers related to bladder and pelvic floor dysfunction. His clinical work includes medical and surgical management of urinary incontinence, pelvic organ prolapse and pelvic floor dysfunction following childbirth.
