Having completed my specialist orthopaedic training in the North West region, Miss Akhtar undertook a foot and ankle fellowship at the internationally renowned Wrightington Hospital. During my orthopaedic training, she undertook research projects in the area of foot and ankle surgery which have been published in peer reviewed journals and received prizes both at nationally and internationally renowned orthopaedic meetings.
She have been a full time NHS Consultant Trauma and Orthopaedic Surgeon working for the Pennine Acute NHS Trust ( now known as Northern Care Alliance) since August 2014. Her elective NHS practise currently focuses on foot and ankle conditions and my practice encompasses the latest evidence based treatment options in this sub-specialty. Miss Akhtar has successfully treated sports persons at all levels including a World Boxing Association lightweight champion.
She have been an honorary senior lecturer for Edge Hill University. In 2019 became the specialty training lead in trauma and orthopaedics for the Royal Oldham Hospital.
Miss Akhtar is a clinical and educational supervisor for junior doctors in training and a faculty member for a number of courses for junior doctors
