Dr Sam Mohiddin is a Consultant Cardiologist at The London Independent Hospital and trained at Edinburgh University Medical School. Dr Mohiddin's interests and training in cardiomyopathies developed during 6 years at the Inherited Cardiac Diseases Section of the National Heart Lung and Blood Institute (NHLBI, NIH, USA) where he won the Young Investigator award at the American Heart Association.

Dr Mohiddin is a Consultant Cardiologist and an Honorary Clinical Senior Lecturer at the London Chest Hospital. He developed and manages the Heart Muscle Disease clinic at London Chest where he also has a specialist interest in cardiac magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). He has published several articles on inherited and acquired heart muscle disease and cardiac MRI.

He maintains an active interest in cardiomyopathy research, particularly in invasive treatments of hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HCM), sudden death in HCM, family screening for inherited heart disease and in myocarditis. He is also the Commissioning Editor for the Heart Journal and a member of the UK based Association for Inherited Cardiac Conditions (AICC) and of the working group on pericardial and myocardial disease of the European Society of Cardiology.

Dr Mohiddin sees all patients with suspected and confirmed cardiomyopathies, but has a particular interest in HCM, athletic heart, myocarditis and cardiac MRI. In managing patients with obstructive HCM, he works closely with Dr Charles Knight.
