Dr Sandeep Basavarajaiah is a Consultant Cardiologist at Heart of England NHS Trust and practices from BMI The Meriden Hospital, Coventry and BMI The Priory, Birmingham.

Dr Basavarajaiah qualified in 2001 at Vijayanagara Institute of Medical Sciences in South India. He has been trained in coronary intervention (angioplasty) by Professor Antonio Colombo (one of the world renowned interventional cardiologists) at San Raffele Hospital in Milan. He obtained his postgraduate qualification from Royal College of Physicians, London in 2005.

In 2011 Dr Basavarajaiah gained his Doctorate in Medicine (MD) from King’s College London on “Athletes Heart”. The research looked into the ethnic differences in left ventricular remodelling between Caucasian athletes and athletes of African and Afro-Caribbean Origin. Over 3000 athletes had ECGs and echocardiograms taken and analysed for the study.  The full findings have been published in Journal of the American College of Cardiology and the European Heart Journal.

Dr Basavarajaiah is currently working as a consultant cardiologist at the Heart of England NHS Trust. He is trained in coronary intervention (angioplasty and stent procedures) and also fully competent in general cardiology skills such as transthoracic echocardiogram, transoesophageal echocardiogram, permanent pacemaker insertion, interpretation of Holter monitors and exercise stress test.
