Mr Mylvaganam undertook his training at the Royal Free and University College London and then specialist and sub specialist training in breast surgery in the West Midlands. He gained expertise in breast oncoplastic & reconstruction surgery and cosmetic breast surgery whilst undertaking the National Oncoplastic Breast Fellowship. This fellowship is extremely competitive, selecting just a few breast and plastic surgeons each year and is hence considered the gold standard for breast reconstruction and breast cosmetic training in the UK.
Mr Mylvaganam holds a number of leadership roles in numerous organisations including the professional clinical advisor for surgery in the West Midlands for the NHS Breast Screening Programme. In this role he is responsible for quality assuring the surgical performance of all breast surgeons involved in treating screen detected breast disease. He is also a training programme director for Health Education England, responsible for the oversight and quality of training of core trainee surgeons in the West Midlands. He is also committed to improving breast reconstruction surgery, and is currently a leading member of a national research group investigating the practice of implant-based breast reconstruction aiming to improve UK wide patient outcomes and experiences.
Mr Mylvaganam is a driven consultant, dedicating his time to surgery, patient experience and research. He has been invited to speak at numerous national and international conferences and has more than 50 journal and textbook publications to his name.
