Dr Shankar Sridharan is a Consultant Paediatric and Fetal Cardiologist. He qualified as a doctor from Imperial College Medical School (St Mary’s Hospital), London, in 1998. In 2001 he became a Member of the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health, and completed specialist training in paediatric cardiology (CCST) in 2009. His paediatric cardiology training was undertaken at Great Ormond Street Hospital. London, UK.
In 2011, he received an award from the British Medical Association (BMA) Book awards, for his imaging atlas in cardiovascular magnetic resonance imaging and praise from The Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA). He has completed 2 yrs of formal sub-specialty training in fetal cardiology at Great Ormond Street Hospital, which is renowned for paediatric cardiac excellence.
His NHS practice is based at Great Ormond Street Hospital, the only exclusively specialist children's hospital in the UK. In terms of the number of surgical procedures, the department is the largest in the UK. Dr Sridharan is the cardiac network lead responsible for improving the safe and sustainable delivery of paediatric care across London and our referring hospitals. Together with his cardiology colleagues they provides a full programme of cardiology care for children. He is also a visiting consultant paediatric cardiologist for Whipps Cross Hospital and The Royal London Hospital, Whitechapel.
