Personal Profile
Dr Sharaf Ibrahim qualified in 1985 and completed postgraduate training in London, Sheffield and Leeds in the field of diabetes and endocrinology. He spent two years as a Research Fellow in Sheffield and attained a degree of MD (Doctor of Medicine) from University of Sheffield. He was appointed as a consultant physician in diabetes and endocrinology at Queen Mary’s, Sidcup in 2000 and has been the lead clinician of that unit since 2001.
During this period, Dr Ibrahim developed the service with establishment of various specialist clinics in Diabetes and Endocrinology. He also worked closely with Bexley CCG to locally develop the diabetes services that put Bexley on the national diabetes map and achieved top spot among London boroughs on many occasions.
He regularly teaches hospital junior doctors, medical students and primary care health professionals. He has written and published many articles in peer reviewed journals. He regularly attends national and international conferences.
