Dr Obaid received her postgraduate medical and Rheumatology specialist training in London and Leicester. She obtained MSc in Rheumatology from Oxford University in 2009. She is a member of the Royal College of Physicians and the British Society of Rheumatology.
She has gained a wide experience in managing patients with various Rheumatological conditions including rheumatoid arthritis, lupus, fibromyalgia, osteoarthritis, gout and others. Her has a special interest is inflammatory arthritis, Ankylosing Spondylitis and Adolescence arthritis. She also has vast experience in all aspects of Rheumatology.
Since she joined the department in 2009, she has established a multidisciplinary Ankylosing Spondylitis clinic where she works closely with a physiotherapist and an Occupational therapist to provide a high standard of care to her patients with this chronic condition. Patients undergo a formal assessment of their disease activity and they are considered for the new anti-TNF therapy when appropriate. She also holds a joint Paediatrics’ Rheumatology clinic in Lincoln and provides a transitional care service for adolescents with arthritis.
She has attended several international musculoskeletal ultrasound courses and she is developing her skills in examining joints and injecting them under ultrasound guidance. She has a passion for medical teaching and she is the Rheumatology lead for undergraduate teaching in Lincoln and the audit lead for Rheumatology. She has done her Masters thesis on Fibromyalgia natural history and treatment. She has presented in international meetings.
