Personal profile

Dr Sherine Mikhail is a Consultant Psychiatrist who specialises in the assessment and treatment of mental illness in adults. She qualified from Royal Free Medical School, University of London in 1994, and obtained Membership of the Royal College of Psychiatrists in 1998. She became a Consultant Psychiatrist in 2002, and she was awarded Fellowship of the Royal College of Psychiatrists in 2011.

Additionally, she gained a BSc in Immunopathology at medical school in 1991 and a Diploma in Criminology in 2005. She has a substantive NHS Consultant post at Chase Farm Hospital, where she has been awarded 7 Clinical Excellence Awards, and she has a private practise in London. In addition to her clinical work she is Chair of the NHS Trust Drugs and Therapeutics Group and a panel member of medical students Fitness to Practise Hearings at University College London.

Her areas of special interest are mood disorders (anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, obsessive-compulsive disorder), stress-related disorders (adjustment disorders, post-traumatic stress disorder), psychotic illnesses (schizophrenia, schizoaffective disorder, delusional disorder), personality disorders, and benzodiazepine dependence.
